Strategic Plan

Second Year of Updated Strategic Plan Includes Completion of Key Mandates

In 2023, the FSMB Foundation adopted a new strategic plan that is structured to provide more resources for state medical regulators, helping them achieve best practices and increased effectiveness while anticipating the needs of a fast-changing health care landscape.

One of the plan’s five essential goals for the Foundation is striving for improved Organizational Effectiveness, including Implementing governance and administrative structures that are fiscally responsible, transparent and adaptable.

The Foundation took an important step toward fulfilling this goal in 2024 by revising its Bylaws to include term limits. Directors are now elected for three-year terms and are eligible to be reelected to two additional terms for a maximum of nine years. This includes any time served as an officer.

To facilitate the transition to term limits, the board also approved dividing the current directors into three groups, with the terms of the first group to expire in 2025, the second group in 2026 and the third group in 2028.

The Foundation also added as an officer the position of Immediate Past President.

Several members of the FSMB Foundation Board of Directors joined keynote speaker political commentator Charlie Cook at last year’s annual FSMB Foundation Luncheon. Pictured are (l to r) Jeffrey D.
